It’s a 1956. He has it listed at 165k. Killer price for whoever is looking for one. It was my car and I traded it in on a Lambo. Here is the link: http://www.catsexotics.com/vehicle-deta ... d-21643477

Just sold here in Carson City was chassis 53308 with Rudge wheels. However, just as with the car above (58061), the wheels may be originals, but are not original to the car.

I believe the Rudges didn't show up until sometime in Dec 58.

Rudges appeared in 1957, and that is the year of these wheels.

Cats is local to me here in Seattle. Looks like a beautiful car! Do you have the COA on it? I don't see it listed on their website. Thanks!

I don't have a copy of it. Gave it with the car along with a copy of the Kardex. If you email Roy at Cat's, he will email copies of them to you.

Sounds good. I may try to get over there this weekend and have a look. How long did you own the car? What a beauty! -tr

Brad the wheels on the 55 I just purchased are date stamped 1/57. The previous owner said she and her husband drove to CT in their station wagon from Virginia to buy them back in the mid to late 60s.
Original not but still look, to quote the west coast guys, “bitchin”!

I owned the car for just over two years and loved it. Matching engine, non-matching trans but replacement is ‘62 so shifts better. Took it to all the So. Cal. events such as Luft, etc., and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Here's a period photo from the 1954 Porsche Owners Rally around Stuttgart. I believe the cabriolet in the background piloted by Ferry Porsche (?) has a set of 16" Rudges on it. Never seen these before.

James - Don't know about the 16", however notice the holes flare out, not in. Those Rudges were most likely from a Spyder.

I imagine I'm an outlier, but I think the Rudge wheels look like post-consumer recycled ass after being blended with dog poop in a VitaMix.

rare one year only beehive tail lights? What did i miss? Pretty car! Should this not have a single piece rear overrider instead of the '57-on duals?

One year yeah not my listing. But it was a 1.5 year characteristic of A coupes since they ended in 57. Overriders are correct.

Thom, you are definitely an outlier. I will take your word for what dog poop in a Vitamix looks like though.

Those wheels are actually Borrani -- steel center/alum rim. The hub design was made under license from Dunlop/Rudge-England-- same as later KPZ versions as option wheels on 356s. See below of such wheel on a 550.

BTW, Borrani is coming back with 15" versions with "Porsche" windows (cooling holes) polished alloy rim/painted steel center see photo below -- stay tuned.

Thanks for the pointer Trevor. Yeah, those are definitely 15" wheels after measurement, so probably the 2nd type of Rudge used on the Buckelwagen Spyder during the same period.

And thanks for the extra info Brad! Borrani, huh? Any period info on those? Attached is another close-up of the wheel on the Torino 1954 show car.
