Front compartment rubber

#1 Post by Fred Nolte »

Hi guys,
I have been trying to get the correct size of grooved rub mat for the front center underhood area of my "54. I have an International Mercantile piece but it's to narrow by about 1/2' and when you line the hole up on the top left corner the front cutout is not centered. i read something on here about different manufacturers but I can't find it now.
Thanks, Fred Nolte

Fred - I'm not knowledgeable about Pre-A's, but please be patient, someone will respond to your inquiry.

Fred,

Here's a link to the pre-A mat on Stoddard's website - -

And some photos below of an original trunk mat for reference - - -

I don't know when the change was made, but here is a shot of a mat from Jan '54. It is slightly different at the front and the fuel tank vent pipe hole has no cut to the edge of the mat. Ignore the rumpled front edge. That is from the mat resting against the tire strap loop for a few decades.

Thanks for the pictures guys. I'll use the pictures for reference and I will look into Stoddards and see if they make the correct dimensions.
