+1 on Jules' LEDs. Be sure and follow his instructions regarding which bulbs to use in the warning light positions.

My understanding is that if you replace all of the standard (incandescent) bulbs with led's, the dimming won't work. But if you leave one (or more?) standard bulbs together with led's, all is fine.

Is that correct?

My LED dash lights came from Ed Rutherford at Klasse 356. I could not get the LED generator light to work so left the old style in place. All the rest are LED and all the replacement LED lights do dim. The are great for aging eyes.

I purchased the LED dash lights a couple years ago from Jules Dielen a member of the forum if you want his contact info.
This is a simple upgrade with an amazing difference in dash light visibility. You won't believe the difference.
It is not hard to do. Just toss a couple cushions (use discretion here... I almost got caught) into the footwell, bring a light source, add a pillow to rest your head. Look at your sketch of the gauges showing the position and color of the new lights. Wiggle out the bulb holder and switch them out one at a time... there you go. Just pay intention to his directions for the installation. Also impressive is the customer service from Jules should you ever need any. He helped me trouble shoot one of the lights lately and found out it was the bulb holder as he had suggested.

This has popped up on my digest at just the right time - drove home last Friday night and I had *no idea* what speed I was doing.

Nannette, if your car is 6 volt like mine, you will be very happy with the LED gauge lights.
Just be sure to follow the directions carefully.
Also, if you still have the stock tail lights, I suggest you look into the LED replacement units from CuLayer. I couldn't believe the difference in my '58 A cab.Very easy to swap out.

There is a article how to DIY your LED dash lights at I use to do mine and I am sure others have done there own also. I did a quick search and found nothing. As I remember you need a bulb socket, resistor, new LED bulb, some silicon and solder gun. The article made it a rather easy project as I remember. I have posted in the past how to DYI your own LED tail lights, back up, brake lights too, had no luck finding that post either. I used a donor harbor fright flash light for all the LEDs on circuit board. The circuit board needs a little reshaping and it fits in where the metal bulb holder sets behind the plastic lenses. Two are needed for each side one for stop and one for turn light. The photos are from my post on how to DYI tail lights and this is missing the details. Enjoy 63 super 90 Sunny SoCal

I installed Jules dash lights a few years back and they are just excellent. Another nice change is to replace you interior lights with LED festoon style bulbs. You can actually find something in the car at night without breaking out your flashlight.
