You don't need an aerospace a platter per say. Just about every repair station and fieldbase operator (FBO) that does corrosion control, painting or metal repair will have a dip tank. Go to th general aviation airport and ask the manager. Alodine is used on all aircraft aluminum before primer.
You can always spray mist it on also with a spray bottle. It's not a hard process and not really all that hazardous. You can order the Crystals and get a big plastic tub and make your own dip tank. Disposing of the residuals is not too hard.

Is it OK for the coating to go on the precisely machined surfaces as well, or does that affect the fit? Apparently it is a carcinogen, as well as harmful to skin and liver, so using and disposing of it safely could take some research.

Thank you community for all the answers.
The Alodine or dow19 brush on method is not allowed in europe because chromium troxide is extremly toxic. So be very carefull if you use it.

The advice to contact airplane specialists was perfect.Magnesium coating is a daily business for them and they are very cheap too.

Tank you for all the answers.
The advice of John Brooks was very helpfull. Workshops for aviation engine repairs are used to magnesium coating.Alodine is available in the United States
from amazon for DIY.But please remember it is a very toxic chemical.
