Roadstr Ruby Red Full Restoration

#1 Post by Freddie Hernandez »

Great, finally part of the 356 Registry. Here is my full matching numbers 1960 356 in Ruby Red. I purchased the car in Canada thus, the rust. However, we are up to the challenge folks to bring the car back to show room condition. The car has now been properly dipped in a non-acid solution leaving the metal spotless clean of any rust. With the body framed and on the rotisserie, I can begin the cutting and replacing of new sheet metal. Stay tuned this will be a hot one!

That will be a challenge, but certainly in good hands.

Easy does it. One panel at a time. Get it done right the first time and waste no time and money.

Your photo appears to show the battery box sidewall mounted inboard of the leading edge of the wheelwell panel. To be "correct" the battery box should be sandwiched between the front beam upright and the wheelwell panel. A bit tedious, but not difficult. Requires breaking the spot welds and folding back the wheelwell panel metal. Also lets you clean out the old remnants of the battery box sides, and a bunch of rust from the overlap.

Does modifying a matching numbers engine to a higher CC hurt the value of an original car? Help it?

Hi Chuck, that is a great question. Upgrading the original engine to more horsepower only helps the value if done tastefully and, with out compromising the external look of any engine. Who does not want more horsepower? Of course, I like power to get me out and around todays fast moving cars.

PS where have those Cowboys been this year.

They have had a few distractions :-(. But I'm originally from the NE so I'm a New England fan.

Roadster has taken time to sort out all the fabrication. Fabrication is now behind me and on to the next stage of primer and blocking for flat and prefect gaps....
