Great job, it looks beautiful. Great team work.
I remember when you picked it up.
Who is going to keep this little beauty?

Thanks guys, for the kind words and support during the process. As a final post on the subject before we try to sell it and start on the next project, here are some parting shots:

ARGH...but it wasn't the end....over the weekend we found the proper metal brake fluid reservoir, instead of the plastic one that the replacement master cylinders come with today. We finally found the right length NSF bolts for our horn grills as well.

The T-5 parts book doesn't specify a protective rubber cap, but the T6 supplement has 644.613.491.00 (protective rubber cap for stoplight switch). No color specified. We felt better with a little protection.

We decided to see if what we did would show well. First we found an old brake light switch (to replace the newer but less correct model) that actually worked. We also replaced the emergency brake nuts with correct black ones :

So with that little detail fixed, we entered two shows. In the first show, the San Marino Motor Classic, we took the top step in the 356 class:

And then, the 356 Club of Southern California's annual Concours. This year, the competition was fierce, with 7 cars in the full concours open car class, including the Porsche Parade winner. We placed second to the car that we beat at San Marino, and congrats to him, a lovely twin-grill roadster. The car that won the Porsche Parade in Spokane two weeks earlier finished third (on a tie-breaker). Some really nice cars there.

I think the idea now is to find another interesting car to work on (so our wives don't kill us...) and retire this Cab to another owner's stewardship. The ad is in the classifieds.....

Having been indirectly part of the restoration of this car I can say that whoever ends up buying it will get one hell of a car. Larry, Mike and Jim did an awesome job.

One of the things I love about this car aside from the quality and color combo is that I would not hesitate to drive it cross country as is. Larry is one of the most accomplished 356 mechanics out there with 40+ years of experience. You can be sure that everything works as it should and no corners have been cut. The same can not be said for some of the full show cars out there.... beauty is sometimes only skin deep

It has been a pleasure to follow this resto. Did someone buy it? It is probably destined to end up in some high end collection I would imagine.

Congrats on the sale, but must have been sad to see it go. Best of luck to new owner!
