Re: Devin D Porsche Race Car Project
I already bought a set of Tilton pedals and will be mounting them 2 or 3 inches farther forward. Once the body is mocked up onto the frame I planned on looking at the options to drop the seat like I did with the 356. Most likely I have to slink down reclined with my feet fairly far forward. I also have to check full compression tire clearance at the rear before I put the wheel wells back in to the car. I am also modifying the rearmost frame tubing to take rear roll bar supports to avoid the forward support. SVRA suggests a minimum of 2 supports and that gets a little tricky with a Devin.

Re: Devin D Porsche Race Car Project
Kaz, do you feel much front end lift at high speed? The front shape looks like it would lift and I thought I might need to diminish that effect with my "oil cooler positioning"(air dam ).

CLIFF Looking at your frame again --and the old frame that you are copying please note that the early devin frames did not have the large tube running down the middle --the last couple of frames for the d and c cars did . devin felt that the tube down the middle greatly helped ---please consider installing it while you can -----kaz

Re: Devin D Porsche Race Car Project
Hi Kaz. I want every bit of input you have to offer. Did you see the two smaller diameter chrome-moly tubes running down the center of the car? They are structural and also to be used for plumbing and wiring. Not in that picture are now tubes running from side to side under the front of the seat but the driver's side tube is just tacked into place until the seat has a final positioning. I am going to position the driver's seat, Kirkey Vintage, below the main side beams at the rear of the seat. I am thinking 1" below. How far down did you go relative to the bottom of the side beams?

Sorry, the phone camera pictures do not orient correctly until you click to enlarge them. They download fine on the Mac so I don't know why our site doesn't orient them correctly. The main part of the frame is welded and off of the jig. We mocked up the seat mounting, talked about some heim joint tie rods...and other work to be done.

Nice-looking frame work! Reminds me of some of the replica Cobra frames I've been looking at, 'cept engine/trans location, of course. However, looking at photos upside down is giving me vertigo... get another camera! =: ]

Thanks Ron,
Stand on your head! Turn your computer upside down? It's probably best to click the picture which for some unknown(to me) reason flips the image.

My Mac must work differently since it puts them correct. Strange.

CJ,
I see those posted this morning as correct. Your earlier post with photos were not.
