Devin D Porsche Race Car Project
After seeing pictures from Rennsport I got the bug for a Devin D. I enjoy building racing bikes and racing cars and the Devin looks like a challenging project where I would be building something almost totally different from a 356. I suspect that it won't handle as well as a 356 at first but that just adds to the challenge.
ugly... even uglier... the other cars are trying to get away from it... body at the body shop after media blasting... The frame is off being replicated at a secret skunk works run by disgruntled ex-NASA employees, pictures to follow.

Love it Cliff, will be watching this one.
Nice family you have there. My in laws live in that area, and they mentioned seeing a blue 356 around. Probably you!

Hello, i am also rebuilding a "D".
Would it be possible to post some pics from the front end from the chassis,to see the front axle support.
This would be a great help for me.
Thanks in advance
Mike

Hello Mike, here are a few additional pictures of the frame. I hope they help and if you need more information please ask. Please post some pictures of your car here as well. It would be very interesting and educational. Will yours be a street car? Also please keep in mind that I have another nice condition D for sale in case one of your friends gets the bug to own one.

Mike, be careful about the amount of backward tilt of the beam since that sets your castor and the beam is fixed once welded.
I often drive between my house in Chester Springs and my business in Honey Brook. Where do your in laws live? If you give me an exact address I could stop over and see what they are serving for dinner.M Penta wrote:Love it Cliff, will be watching this one.

Hi Cliff,
They live in Pottstown area. I'm sure my Mother in Law would be happy make Dinner for a ride in one of your cars. She loves 356's and is patiently waiting for a ride.
We'll be down there next week for her Bday, then off to Ocean City for a few days.

Re: Devin D Porsche Race Car Project
We had dinner last night at the Coventry Pub in Pottstown. It's a classic old school bar with hand cut hot roast beef or ham tavern sandwiches made right at the bar to enjoy with an ice cold beer. Which OC, NJ or MD?

Re: Devin D Porsche Race Car Project
I am not aware of the place but will need to check that out. Usually we eat at my inlaws, but last time there we went to a very good Diner in town for breakfast. Maybe this time we can sneak off to the pub.
OCNJ (North street). My inlaws have been going there for like 40 yrs. Its a fun place. Kids looking forward to the amusement park and I can't wait to have breakfast at the North Street breakfast place right out on the beach. Hope the waves are big.
It will be nice to get away for a few days, another whirlwind tour to CT,PA,NJ. I only drive at night on these trips, I don't do traffic...

OCNJ is a great family town. That is where we went for years along with Sea Isle and Avalon. Our whole family is headed to Sea Isle in August.

Re: Devin D Porsche Race Car Project
Hello Cliff,
Thank you very much for the pics, it´s a great help for me.
Would it be possible, to have another one from the side, to see the height difference between front axle under tube under side, and under side frame rail.
My frame would so often "tuned" by the last owners that it´s difficult for me to find out the right sizes.
My car will be a mixt car : Street legal & Race.
I will try, to find out how to post pics (PC´s are not my cup of tee )
For your "D" for sale please send me a mail with some infos : tempelsmike@gmail.com i will ask around me.
Mike

Re: Devin D Porsche Race Car Project
The frame builder is very busy so progress will be slow until the end of the dirt racing season but I did get some bling for the project.
