As the previous owner of 55596 I have some pictures of the textured paint for your reference. The car and the wheels are in Aquamarine Blue Metallic. What's the consensus on the reason for the rough texture?

Hi Steve,

I have not been able to find amy reason in factory documents so far for the use of the undercoating.

Do any of the Pre-A guys know if some of the late Continentals also had this detail?

Steve, can not email you through the list. I have some additional questions with regard to your old car. Can you send me an email? Thanks Joris

53449 (10/05/55) did not have undercoating on the underside of the hood or decklid.
53070 did not have undercoating on the decklid - don't know about the hood.

Add 57505 (Oct 1, 1956) to list of cars with a textured hood.

Sorry, I'm a little late to this topic. 54205 did not have undercoating -- built 9/23/55.
