for my outlaw I would like to fix a T4 engine with a 644 gear box together, does that fit?
It seamed that the diameter of engine case is slittly bigger than the diameter of the gear
box housing.
Thanks for help

Re: T4 Engine
The case will bolt up just fine, the flywheel will need to be different from the stock type 4.

Re: T4 Engine
Excuse me for my ignorance but what is a 644 gearbox?

Hi Conrad
what we usually mean is the tunnel case gearbox that was used in the 356A until the 716 in 59 that has the same syncromesh as the 741 used in the B+C. the last 519 have 644 mounting type that is the dual mount. version I of the 741 had a single mount.

Re: T4 Engine
Hi Michael
even if you use the VW type IV flywheel the 644 box is problematic especially if you are going to use a built Type IV even a 741 is a poor choice.

Re: T4 Engine
PO had Cadrobbi conversion done on my 63 outlaw. Can it be done on earlier gearboxes?
