Stolen 911

#1 Post by Earl Harvin »

Pity this ends up as my first post here on the forums.

Good friend of mine had this stolen from his underground garage in Berlin, Germany sometime between July 21st and July 25th.

Year: 1970
VIN#: 911 010 1317
Engine#: 6108292 (non-matching twin-plug)

Could please especially any European members here keep an ear to the ground.

Fairly uncommon original color Burgundy (017) with silver decals hard to miss!

Assume perpetrators would paint it (or worse) but you never know.

Any leads or ideas much appreciated.

- Earl

Reminds me of my once beloved 911T, all silver with b/w hounds tooth Recaro seat inserts. If anyone out there still has it I could tell ya some great stories from back in the day.

There's good news at the Early 911S Registry http://www.early911sregistry.org/forums ... Stolen-911

The 911T was very quickly found. Just over three weeks after it went missing it was located in an on-line ad at a dealer in Fallbrook, CA. That dealer is NOT the outfit that holds open houses in conjunction with the LitMeet.

A retired police officer who specialized in fighting car theft and who's also active in PCA in Southern California tells me that dealers who wind up with stolen cars usually buy them with legitimate (or legitimate-looking) paperwork and aren't aware of the car's status.

Good news always seems to travel slower than bad news, but, isn't there a contradiction here. We get the heads up today, but the vehicle was found three weeks after it went missing. Then again, the 25th of July was only about 3 weeks ago. Something really strange in timing is going on here. For the dealer to have received the vehicle within a day or so from the time it went missing, wouldn't it haft to have been flow across the pond to be in the dealers hands so quickly? Nooooo doubt the net on this theft ring is going to spread out pretty wide. That's a whole lot of close coordination to make the trip here in such a short period of time. Maybe someone has their dates wrong?

I reread everything. The car's advertised on an Australian website (sort of like Bring a Trailer) but it's located in Fallbrook. It may or may not be in the possession of a dealer. The San Diego authorities know about it.

That 911T definitely traveled fast.

Go back and check again. The ad that showed up was from years ago before the car went overseas......
