HELP CA Member in Venice wanted

#1 Post by Erich Wagner »

Hello 356ers,

i bought a Porsche 911 E in Venice California this week. There is no sign that this car does not exist. I got pictures, talked to the very friendly owner serval times.. but... i want to be sure so i am looking for somebody who can drive to venice and take a look at the car. The owner is already informed and is willing to show the car to anybody in my name. No tecnical inspection or tecnical knowlege necessary. I just need to know if the car exists :-).
I am too far away to prove it on my own (Austria)

Please let me know if you can help me.
I will of course pay all your expenses and your time.

Thanks
Eric

Suggest you contact Ed Rutherford at Klasse 356 in Torrance, about 20km from Venice. He is experienced in early Porsches and can ensure that the car you are purchasing sight and condition unseen by you in Austria, is what you expect. <www.klasse356.com> or tel:800-634-7862 int'l & 310-370-3014 local.

Congratulations.

Would you happen to know anything about what appears to be a '65-'66 911 parked in front of it?

Was this by any chance associated with Otto's Porsche Service in Venice? Otto (John Williamson) passed away a bit over two years ago and I've wondered what happened to the shop and all those parts.

"Otto" inherited an early 911 (chassis number around 300048) from his father and had a shelf full of Solex 40 PI carburetor sets for early 911s. A complete Solex set for an early 911's worth something like $ 10,000 today.
