Firmly grabbing a Registry third rail….How many cars have matching numbers?

Re: Poll for matching numbers
How do I vote with 3 cars? It will not let me vote more than once and I have three cars with different levels of matching #'s.

Re: Poll for matching numbers
well,...it's anonymus so maybe eveyone will be honest.
It's a fairly interesting question. I've always wondered what the numbers on this might be. The other breakdown that would be cool to know is what the numbers are by model/year.

Re: Poll for matching numbers
Steve, I agree, a breakdown would be interesting. Mine's a '64C coupe--body, transmission, engine and all panels match.

I'm with David; one with non-stock air in the tires (joking!) and one that has kept the major body tin only. So not vote from here.

Re: Poll for matching numbers
hmmm…have to go back and look at the poll rules again, I thought at first glance it was a one-vote deal. But I've been easily fooled, so you never know what the rules will let you do. Usually the one-vote rule is there to prevent skewing a result.

Re: Poll for matching numbers
OK Jim, Try this. One with all matching #'s. One with all but the front bumper and hood and both front fenders. One with all but the engine matching which is probably the most common case. (I am looking for that matching #'s case)
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

Great idea.
This should throw some light on things (and also illuminate some other questions).

Re: Poll for matching numbers
65 C coupe matching numbers but not all body panels match, front hood is a mis match. And bumpers are from another car. Doors and rear deck lid match.

Too bad I can't vote twice because both of my cars are fully matching as evidenced by the COA's I have plus just looking at the cars.

Re: Poll for matching numbers
What if my cardex has two engine numbers? As long as the engine matches one of them, is it considered matching numbers?

Re: Poll for matching numbers
As far as I know, my baby is very original and all numbers matching (probably excluding bumpers). When my cheap vinyl seat recovers split a few years ago, instead of being frustrated, I was pleased to find what I believe is the original tattered vinyl underneath. I think I even have the original kink in my hood!

By panels, do you mean body panels?

Re: Poll for matching numbers
By "panel" I mean the ones that were stamped at the factory with the last 3 digits of the VIN, so the doors, hood, and engine cover.David Maxwell wrote:By panels, do you mean body panels?
