Re: What are the Most Enjoyable Modifications You've Made?
I have done 6 things to my 1957 coupe that I think are really neat. 1) The chrome was removed from the car. 2) I installed a shoulder harness per B/C factory manual section 0 (Zero) 3) I removed the padding from the dash filled the holes including the defroster vents and painted the dash. 4) I should have installed the 912 tachometer and gauges they do not look fussy. The hole in the dash would need to be opened for the tachometer but the gauges would fit. 5) remove the hand throttle (the factory did in 1962) 6) I installed t-6 variable speed wipers. You can see pictures of the car on our web site. al zim

For my Coupe:
Conversion (by Turnswitch) of original 6V Blaupunkt radio to modern electronics inside (includes internal 6V to 12V convertor), so there is enough power to drive modern 5.25 inch speakers to a level audible at 75-80mph with the windows and sunroof open with my iTunes ,now I don't have to hall around all those 8 track tapes.!!

Very cool Lewis. That must improve your fuel economy quite a bit!

James: Fuel economy has been vastly improved while running mostly in 24 hour events. TLC

And those wheel covers only took "a couple of hours" to make. I know, since I paid for them...

To Edwin,
I have got an aluminium muffler on my '69 911 from the same manufacturer. The sound is great and it is definitely extremely light. This being said, I can't tell how much the engine gained in power.
Best

Tim, I have XWX's on my 911. They really look really good on your car with those Coddington (?) wheels! Did Michelin ever make 165 XWX's?
Are those 5 or 6 inch rims?

This is a very interesting thread, but please keep it on topic - perhaps a new or existing thread to discuss your tire questions in appropriate.

Re: What are the Most Enjoyable Modifications You've Made?
The twin plug engine upgrade is without question just fantastic. I've driven 356's since the 1970's and this is the best thing since sliced bread and sex (oh wait, I'll re-think that).
The increase in torque and horsepower in the useful range is outstanding. Think about dropping your speed while in second to near zero. Generally you'd shift into first, but with the twin plug engine it will pull from walking speed to "another damned ticket" speed in no time.
