T2s with electric sunroofs (they do exist but are extremely rare) have a sunroof that is exactly the same size as the manual ones. The sunroof motor is located in the engine compartment and looks strong enough to lift a bridge!

Electric sunroof in 356A and T5 356B
I've enclosed a few pictures of the electric sunroof components in my 1959 built, 1960 T5. I've spoken to 2 people with 58 and 59 T2's and it sounds like their cars are the same as this cars. As I pulled these up I realized that I need to get some updated pictures of some of these parts since most of the pictures were taken as the car was being refurbished for reference as we reassembled it.

That is exactly the same as T2 356As. Thanks for posting the pictures.
For those of you that have never seen such a thing (99.9% of all 356 enthusiasts) note that the sunroof motor is at the extreme rear of the engine compartment. The cables that operate the sunroof from the motor are routed around the engine and go through the firewall on either side of the engine. It is a crude setup but very interesting!

Re: When did Porsche introduce the electric sunroof?
We recently got in one of these early electric sunroofs. When we got it I thought it was a little different, with the sunroof motor in the engine bay, and the switch on the face of the dash. Just to make sure I pulled a Kardex on it and it came back roses. The car was a Factory Sunroof, silver over black, Super 90, with 3 piece Factory Luggage. The bonus, I found the original motor in the guy's stash. Originally a Brumo's car.
And no, this one is not for sale right now.

How are you able to do that, i.e. apparently it's no big deal?Adam Wright wrote: ...I pulled a Kardex on it ...

Now that is definitely a rare S90. Cool to see these oddball transition cars.
