Pre A wood bottom to metal bottom production date cut off

#1 Post by michael rogers »

Hi, did a little research and can't find when Pre A seats went from wood bottoms to metal bottoms? Maybe they never did? When did the metal bottom seat first come into production.

Thanks for you help,

All pre A cars had the wood bottom seats. The T1 A cars had them too. T2 cars got the metal bases. So the question is now when was the transition during the A run. The 57 cab I restored was a March of 57 build and it uses wood base seats. The seats I put in my pre A were dated (on the recliners) 6. 58 and were metal bases of course.
