We will probably try to tour the ring, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed we can go to the factory museum.

Anything you guys suggest I see, or any parts I should bring back with me I can't get over here?

Thanks!
John,

By now you have returned from your trip; hopefully it was a good one.

BTW==I'm hoping you brought back from Germany the Carrera 4 Cabriolet I asked for.
That's the Black with red color combo, with factory knockoff's.
Let me know and I will be glad to pick it up asap.--LOL
Best Regards,
David

The trip was excellent. Someone was correct in saying we wouldn't want to come back. We didn't want to....

Here are a few shots to tide you over, I'll post more this weekend.

Drove fast to get to the ring...

No we didn't want to come back. If we had the chance to get jobs and stay there we would.

Germany Trip

#18 Post by David Van Dyke »

John,

Thanks for the images. It does look like you had a great time.

When I was 20 years (in 1965) old I took a trip to Europe, only to research what other Countries thought of our involvement in Viet Nam. Quite an eye opener at that young age.
BTW the consenses was "get OUT'\" , but we did not listen....I degress.

I was totally impressed with the castle above Garmish, Germany...I wish I could have toured Europe in a 356. It took me 5 Months to save enough money for the trip.

Hopefully, upon your next visit to Germany you will bring back a Porsche.

Regards,
David

That road picture is stunning! Did you take it while you were steering, or did your passenger take it?

I was riding passenger with the camera out the sunroof. Thank you for digital, took probably 100 shots while driving, I think that is the best one. Think I'll print it poster size and frame it.

Great to see you had a good time John. I Hope my tips helped.

In an earlier post in this thread I mentioned that Klaus Bischoff told me that the new Museum should be open in August. Well, in most uncharateristic fashion Zee Germans are running late. I was informed today by Pamela Ward of Porsche Cars Australia that the new museum is now scheduled for opening in November.

Cheers

Michael.

Funny--when we were there in early '01 they were building the place, and I think the opening was supposed to be in less than a year. Surely it can't take 7 years to build a museum!
