Ersten "Bud" Dunklau

#1 Post by Bil Brown »

Sad news, Bud Dunklau passed this week at 87. Bud was a Porsche mechanic over 60 years and the proprietor of "Road & Track Motors" in Lincoln, NE for well over 50 years. He was my long-time Porsche mentor over 40 years.......he will be missed! Some of you met Bud on trips to Lincoln over the years.....R.I.P Bud

Bud was my "go to" Porsche guy for 20 years, back in the 70's and 80's. R.I.P. Bud.

Bud is the reason I got into 356's. When I was a student at the University of Nebraska in the early 80's I began dating a very nice girl who took me to her dad's shop on O street one day. Right after being introduced to Bud he showed me his Speedster and I was hooked (on both the girl and the cars)! While I could not afford a 356 at the time, Bud got me set up with a very nice SAAB 99 which he was also into. I visited Road and Track motors regularly and although Barb and I stopped dating, we remained good friends and Bud didn't mind me hanging around. Great man and great family.

Bill, please give my condolences to Barb and Carol if you see them.

From the looks of that very tidy, tasteful and detailed shop front, he must have been quite a guy. Sad to lose another guru. Wondering if perhaps he might have had a white '59 cabriolet for sale in the mid-70s, probably '75 or '76. I lived in Rapid City, SD at that time and recall that one was for sale in Lincoln.
