Hi All
50 Years ago, Tomorrow the 16th July 1969, Neil Armstrong, Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin , Michael Collins blasted off for the Moon ! Landing, with Neil taking that 'One Small Step'
What an amazing feat. It's hard to think it was that long ago, I was just 19.
After the Apollo missions ended, we never went back. I always wondered why!
Best wishes America Jay .

Re: 50 Years Ago
Excellent series of podcasts on the BBC. I was surprised at how young the mission control guys were.

Mike,
I was 19. I remember that mission very well.
Living in Northern California and joined the Navy shortly after that.

Hey John.
I am one of those "Senior" guys who watched it all live,. Amazing from beginning to end. Remember, Viet Nam was in full swing in '69, so we needed something like this to
feel good about. Can hardly believe it's been 50 years!

I watched it live when I was 11. Unbelievable feat, especially since over the years I found out what the "level" of technology that was used to get them there and back. And to think I have spent the last 40 years of my career working for a military/aerospace manufacturing firm that has built components for the space station, Galileo, Cassini (RIP), and many "black" satellite programs. Time to reverse the Earth trend and put human driven buggies on Mars! 8)

Re: 50 Years Ago
I watched it live. It was all very real to me as it had not been that long before when when in 62 I sat in an American bar on the RAF base in Geilenchirchen Germany drinking vast quantities of German beer with a bunch of American servicemen as we listened to the launch and subsequent orbits of John Glenn. the beer that night was free for some reason. I was enthralled then by the idea of space travel and still am, and the moon landings I watched live with my father and the rest of the family. Never thought at that time that only 25 years later i would be living in the same town in Ohio that Neil Armstrong was born and grew up in. It's a small world sometimes.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

Well,
It's the 20th July. Time for the Lunar Landing. Now don't tell me this didn't happen!
Tonight at 20:00 here in the UK, I will once again be glued to the TV set watching the decent and landing.
50 years on, Still amazing.
Regards Jay
