Here is my question:
I sold several 356 items to a person in NJ.
They were sent UPS, arrived in NJ (tracking proves that) and were never delivered.
They were not additionally insured, since the buyer did not request that.
Am I the only one taking the loss? Should it be shared by the seller/buyer? Or is the buyer taking the loss?
Any experience you may have had would be helpful, its about $1000.00, no small change.

Re: Question on UPS
Keep after them to find the package. If it is truly lost, they do have $100 insurance automatically. The buyer can not be held liable for the loss, so it's yours if they can't find it. Good luck. We insure everything we send out. If lost or damaged, UPS automatically rejects the claim until you pester them enough. Don't give up.

Re: Question on UPS
Vic's got it right (as usual). UPS won't spend much time looking for it before sending you the $100.
With any luck, however, if it wasn't stolen from the system, they'll find it in some dark corner and it'll get delivered. I had a $7000 seismograph lost between Tucson and Albuquerque once. UPS finally found it and delivered it a month later. If I remember correctly, insurance back then was about $0.30 per $100. In the future, you might not wish to insure the full amount, but at least do enough to make them pay attention.

Re: Question on UPS
It is your responsibility until the buyer gets it. The buyer didn't hire UPS, the seller did. I always insure every package for full value for that reason.

Re: Question on UPS
Not sure about NJ but my daughter in Brooklyn says anything delivered to the front stoop of her Brownstone disappears after delivery.

Re: Question on UPS
On this one UPS admits it was never delivered to the address.
