Anybody know the rules?

#1 Post by Ron LaDow »

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNhBsZIQhuw - watch toward the end, or FF to that.
There is a central structure containing the driver and what looks like a push-rod V8 (given the lateral attitudes, I'm guessing carbs need not apply). Hard to tell regarding the trans, but I'm having a hard time imagining an auto tolerating that amount of shock-loading.
Both axles steer, but seemingly not from the wheel; the back steering is independent of the front. Both axles are laterally constrained, but it looks like some real co-sin loads on those links. Axial constraint looks easy. Roll seems limited only by the coil-overs.
Is there a minimum weight? Max displacement? Anybody know?
Regardless, it looks like as much fun as you can have with an IC engine.
Added by edit: This guy tried an IFS (~26:30), by 29:, it's gone.
OK, this guy seems to be doing well with IS, ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1a6YiIWnks8 ), he's also centralized the masses but kept them forward of center (helps keeping the vehicle aimed up-hill). Note at 3:35, there is no clutch pedal. And then, there's no coils on the coil-overs for most of the vid.
Looks like fun! Any leads to the rules, please!
