Re: Old Motorcycles, etc
That Honda is owned by a fellow who works near my shop. He would ride it to work in the summer and I would pass by and stare, so one day I hopped on mine and showed up to chat. Got quite a few nice pictures of them together that day.

Sold a couple of years ago. First year early production 1968 Norton Commando. I bought a Commando Roadster brand new in 1970.

Re: Old Motorcycles, etc
Thanks! This is what I started with... This might excite you even more. In the mid 90s I traded a nice running Ducati Darmah for 2 basket case 750GTs. The other guy was from Atlanta and we each drove half way and met each other at an exit on Interstate 81 where we swapped bikes in a parking lot. I restored them both and sold this one to Austrailia a few years ago.Sebastian Gaeta wrote:Beautiful Cliffy!

Re: Old Motorcycles, etc
Love it Cliff!
Here are "before" and "after" shots of my Ducati...
I would love to take credit for any part of this bike but actually I had nothing to do with the transformation. A friend of mine built it a while ago, he has a build thread below on a bike site, All I can take credit for is when I said "hey, if you ever sell it, let me know" and I got the call a few years later. It was part of a package deal and was not even the bike he wanted, It's a pretty neat story how it all came about. I consider myself very lucky to be the person he called when he decided to sell it.

DesmoDog is a sick individual who should be institutionalized otherwise he will end up cutting off his ear like van Gogh! Amazing.

As long as we’re going bikes here....
This one is going to the street...
And this is kind of special, since I took it out of its crate in 2001:
And then old reliable, I’ve had it since new in ‘95:

Re: Old Motorcycles, etc
Jim, nice XR750 street tracker! I always wanted an XR RR road racer when I was racing bikes. A couple of friends raced them and they ran very well. I will say that I did just fine racing against them on my Rickman Honda 750. The character of those bikes was very different but both were very effective.

Re: Old Motorcycles, etc
Guys, Since my Duc is basically for show (and not for go with only 9.5 peak hp) I am interested in dressing it up with fairings because it will probably make it look faster than it really is. Any good sources?

Re: Old Motorcycles, etc
I would leave it alone since the mechanical bits are so nice they should remain visible.
If you must do a fairing the guy that used to have the correct Ducati replica parts was Syd's Cycles in Florida. Do they still exist? Somebody will have correct replicas so don't buy some incorrect Brit fairing.
I still say leave it alone.
Ask the guy that restored it what he thinks would be appropriate.

Re: Old Motorcycles, etc
Thanks Cliff. If they are easy on-easy off then I would consider them, do you know if they are? Kinda like the removable hard top on my cab. I use it some fall/winters and sometimes I don't.C J Murray wrote:I would leave it alone since the mechanical bits are so nice they should remain visible.

Re: Old Motorcycles, etc
Fairings need brackets. Some designs are easier than others to remove. Try to find out what mounting methods the factory used in period.
