Everybody grab your coloring books and go to your safe space, that is the only cure these days.

Sometimes, a cliche' can come true. I was picking up my brother's Ferrari last week from the shop, the mechanic's names were Tony and Anthony, no joke.

I think calling the Factory Worker's as Hanz and Fritz isn't derogatory, it's more showing a but of humor. Now if they were calling them Jerry, or something that had been used once as bad term, that wouldn't be cool. Or if you didn't ask a German his name and just called him Hanz or Fritz, that wouldn't be cool, but no one is assigning this name to anyone real, just a hypothetical Factory Worker.

Hi John. I only talk about how much I love Alfas when I'm with you. Did anybody ever tell you that you have "Alfa Derangement Syndrome"? Love you John, you are great fun! :P

Every Tom, Dick and Harry is probably organizing a protest as we speak.

Think about how offended all the Dicks are at the term "every swinging Dick". Why do we assume that every Dick is a "swinger"?

We went to a German deli yesterday and I ordered a sausage with Sourgerman in order to avoid being offensive to German-Americans.

Dan, good move. :)

Like calling an Irishman a potato head, or a Mexican a beaner. Always nice to avoid slurs. Especially when you don't want to get your a** kicked in the wrong crowd.

Kraut actually means herb.

Then next time in order to avoid stereotypes based on nationality I shall request "sour herbs" with my sausage.

Is the name Herb used in Germany? How is it spelled?

No, although I've seen it used on supermarket signs, the German word for Herb is Kraut. Normally in the plural, but I don't have an umlaut key on this computer. But in a German dictionary the word Kraut is listed as a belittling term for a Deutscher. Beware: Deutsche sprechers, in spite of what their PC-proper Socialist leaning might suggest, use lots of off-color terms.
