With no part number visible, are you sure those are not 1969 BMW 2002 air cleaner rubber mounts, repurposed for this unknown bracket?

It is a fuel pump bracket for a 69-70 911. There were two versions. fits in the cavity where the steering rack is, the hump just behind the fuel tank. the melted rubber is from the anti vibration mounts which typically fail quite often
We would be very much interested in this part so we could reproduce. Very difficult to find a decent one which can be scanned.

the locating pin on the bracket actually fits into a depression on the steering rack, so it can be located properly, just like the locating pin on the steering boxes from the 356 cars

Unreal! Good eye, Mike! I had a feeling it held a canister of some sort but had no clue it was for a Porsche. Another part saved and will be reproduced.

Are you sure? Very similar, but not the same. I see 1 clamp and 1 rubber mount on the .pdf This old part has 2 of each. Thread continues until moderators flush it, where it probably belongs. If not identified by Hershey in April, I can bring it there.

One more detail, the clamps with welded nuts on the clamps are 14mm ATF. Bolts 13mm. Very 1965ish.

The first time I saw it I thought is was a fuel pump bracket but it just didn't look right to me so I didn't say anything. Close but no cigar.

There is no doubt in my mind that it is the fuel pump bracket for an early 911. As I said there are 2 versions. in the parts diagram from the manual, it looks like a cast iron part, but in actuality it is a stamped part. Porsche was very inconsistent with the fuel pump brackets in these years. 1965-68 fuel pump was located in engine bay, 1969-71 the pump was located in the smugglers box and under the smugglers box and in 1973 a different bracket was located in the rear, inboard of the rear torsion tube mount.You can look in early parts manuals to confirm.

Still don't think it is a 911 fuel pump bracket. Replaced a 1970 S fuel pump not very long ago and parts looked just like the .pdf parts manual page you attached. Have a few 911s in the shop now, so understand the location mounting differences. Were fuel pumps on early 911 ever mounted from the factory, in or under the smuggler's box, or on the steering rack as you stated? I'm not trying to argue, I enjoy learning new details about our old cars.

That said, we can discuss the logistics of you scanning the part if you really want to. What part number and application would you sell the reproduced part as fitting?

Fuel pumps were mounted at the steering gear in 69 and 70. They were moved to the LR in 71 and the bracket also served as the LR sway bar bushing mount.
