At least one Porsche rim. How in the heck did it end up on that heap?

Haha, love it. Bare feet and all.

I have seen similar work up the road from me, but never seems to end as well.

Australian Aboriginal guys in the Territory. They are called Bush Mechanics for a good reason. I have even seen suspension arms made from the mulga tree. Up there in the desert heat there are 1000's of old cars. Many old VW sambas and utes. Collectors look for them as they are usually pretty solid.

Hello Peter,
Being the patriotic guy that I am, whenever I see evidence of the good old American enterprising spirit, I usually exclaim ". . . ONLY IN AMERICA. . . ".!!!!
After watching the video you posted I would have to exclaim". . . ONLY IN THE AUSTRALIAN BUSH. . . "!!!!!!!!!.

Regards,
jesse

These guys have been living here for 65,000 years and learned a trick or two about survival. Here is a longer one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htQjF4MIUwM

Start about 5 mins in. Uses a boomerang to make brake pads.

Could the Moderators please remove this Thread ?

It is not in the interest, ideals or philosophy of The 356 Registry.

Respectfully,
David

Off Topic Forum perhaps. But it's called 'fun', that's what the Registry is for!

Maybe David & Jon recognized one of our valued restorers in the video and they're trying to protect him......

"It is not in the interest, ideals or philosophy of The 356 Registry." I respectfully disagree. This is an illustration of human ingenuity, which we should all applaud and find inspirational. I know I did, and so did many of my friends We have all heard stories of fellow 356ers who have had to resort to similar clever fixes using all sorts of things such as duct tape, shoe laces, safety pins, etc. to get their broken-down by the side of the road cars back home. In fact, I think that would make an interesting topic in and of itself, so I just started one (see viewtopic.php?f=6&t=44496). Lastly, as Edwin pointed out, they found and used a 356 rim, which provides 356 content to both the video and the post.
