Re: OT Lottery Number
I was lucky (in a way) to buy my first 356, a '58 coupe, in between Viet Nam and Fort Carson, Colorado. I drove it back there and never had a problem with it. I say lucky because the money I had saved was supposed to be for R & R in Australia but I got hurt and never made it. The joy of driving a 356 definitely has lasted longer than the joy of an R & R!

Re: OT Lottery Number
Mike, I too drove my 1960 356 to and from Fort Carson each day in the first half of 1968. You weren't in the 1/5 were you? Suppose this is getting to the off-topic region, my apologies in advance.

I was originally in the 101St Airborne, 1/506, then transferred to the 4th Infantry when stationed at Ft. Carson.

Re: OT Lottery Number
I did not get the experience of the draft as I went in to the RAF in 1960 and on to Germany to watch a wall being built. Do not thank me for my service as I spent the next 14 years having fun, and learning about German cars thru my service.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.
