Re: Care free country life
Fantastic! I never saw one before. Interesting double barrel shotgun set up for deer hunting. That must be a German thing as all the slug/buckshot guns I have seen used in the US have open sights and no sling. Gun experts should enlighten us.

Some times the double barrell shotgun would have on side for small game and one for Wild Boar or deer.

I have a vague recollection of these guns being detailed in the "Shooters Bible" in the 60s and 70s. The link you posted has a picture that looks like the scope is offset and I assume that means that you can use the scope or the open sight. In the US some hunters like a scope that can be flipped to the side to allow use of the open sights for close shots in thick brush. I never was comfortable with the idea that a scope that pivots could remain accurate. I suspect that those combination guns are extremely heavy and real work to drag around the woods all day. It almost seems like one of those all-in-one home entertainment centers that try to do everything but do nothing very well. Still they are clearly works of art and I understand why they appeal to collectors.Joe Johnson wrote:See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combination_gun

The poster is one of a series of four published by Porsche in 1961-62. The other three show skis, golf clubs, and a saddle. Originals in good condition are hard to find--so quite valuable. The poster above is obviously not in great shape, but if you like, I can suggest a restorer who might be able to clean it up.

I’d like to track down these posters. Especially the hunting and skis. Anyone know where to find?
