need early 911 PPI in Paramount, CA

#1 Post by Robert Braunsberger »

Hi,

looking for members for a PPI of a 1965 911 located in Paramount, CA, including technical inspection and also an assessment of the professionality of the seller. In case of positive outcome of the inspection, I may also need some assistance with purchasing logistics. Will cover any expenses and am happy to offer a premium to compensate for the effort!

thanks,
Robert

I found a listing for a '65 911 in Paramount, CA on eBay.

Chassis # 302054 is right around the break between the '65 and '66 model years. The ignition switch surround looks like a '66. The knee pad is not correct for an early 911 but it wraps around the sides which is a a '66 feature. The wood trim on the dash is strange and definitely not the way Porsche did it.

The headrests are wrong--they should attach to the back of the seat like a 356's headrests. Dr Johnson says tat style arrived in '68 or '69.

If you want an original steering wheel, there's one at The Samba 912/911 Original VDM Wood Wheel with Puck Price: $2099.12.

"Correct" 901/01 (Solex-carbureted) engines are pricey: there was one for sale at the Phoenix Club in March for just $ 75,000. There's another report of one selling for £70,000. [~ $90,000].

Good news, that engine didn't sell for $ 75k at the Phoenix Club. It's available for just $ 65,000 at http://www.performanceoriented.com/sale ... arburetors.
