I hope that candidates will provide statements that state their position on term limits or term interruption so that voters know where they stand. I think it would be foolish not to based on this thread. Contact Gordon today!!!

Gordon, you could ask them if they want to include that in their statements.

Like any committee, or business even, the 5% rule applies. That is they do most of the work. Just a fact of life. ....................................Jim.

I have been thinking about how to respond to this for quite awhile. I believe you. I have often found this to be true myself. Probably we have some Trustees that wouldn't be missed much by the hard working few.

We have all just received very good news about our Trustee election. We have 4 new name candidates running for 3 open Trustee positions this election cycle. I had public and private conversations with the Trustees at the ECH regarding term limits, in any form, and I was summarily dismissed and not always in a polite manner. Other than Frank Hood you can assure yourself that no incumbent Trustee will support term limits. In the past 10 years, perhaps longer, there has never been an incumbent who has lost a re-election attempt. To encourage a diversity of opinion on our board I strongly support voting for any of the 4 new names who have stepped up to volunteer. I know one of these individuals very well and have the utmost respect for that person. I know another candidate somewhat and fully support that person. Although I do not know the other two I am confident that their fresh perspective will be beneficial. I do not support these new candidates on the basis that they agree with my points of view and I don't really even know their points of view. It would be nice if they initiated some sort of term limit but if not we at least get a shot of new talent to judge the challenges that face our club today.

The majority of you that responded to this poll support term limits and now is the time to prove it by voting only for non-incumbents. Also please talk to your friends who do not visit this forum. Thank you.

Voting starts soon.

Incumbent Trustees(excluding Frank Hood) will not even discuss term limits or limits to consecutive terms. Actually the incumbents think it is better that they serve 3 year terms instead of our long standing 2 year terms.

If you support allowing more of our 7000 members to serve as Trustees you must vote for only new non-incumbent candidates.

Our Trustees say we don't need limits because the voter can choose.(sounds like Congress) Let's see.

With all due respect to C.J. Murray, term limits are not needed!
The club has worked just find since the mid-1970's. There are no
indications any Trustee has dishonored his position. This campaign
for change will only disrupt a long time well functioning club
management. Leave the Trustee Situation the way it is!

Good God CJ,

You just keep building your own stories in your own way!

Did I ever insult you at the ECH? Did we even discuss term limits?

Now you are telling Gordon how to direct each candidate to write his statement?

And you seem to have no problem telling all who will listen how the incumbent Trustees think!

I can't wait until the Trustee elections are over, to see what your next crusade will be!!

Not there, just near the beginning of this thread.
Bob Campbell wrote:Did we even discuss term limits?
I asked your opinion at the ECH open Trustee meeting and you refused to utter a word. Did that mean you wanted to discuss the subject?
Bob Campbell wrote:Now you are telling Gordon how to direct each candidate to write his statement?
A suggestion falls way short of "telling". I have no sway over Gordon.
Bob Campbell wrote:And you seem to have no problem telling all who will listen how the incumbent Trustees think!
All Trustees except Frank Hood have expressed their position against term limits or consecutive term either here, at the open meeting, or to me personally. I am not 100% sure about Jim Liberty who I think has an open mind.
Bob Campbell wrote:I can't wait until the Trustee elections are over, to see what your next crusade will be!!
I'm open to suggestions. I don't have any in mind.

Thank you Bob, but maybe some new guys and gals could do almost as good a job if given a chance?

Bob, why do you take my suggestion so personally? I have not implied anything at all negative about you or any other Trustee. In fact I was a rabid supporter of the Trustees when the law suit was filed that accused the Trustees of wrongdoing. Was it foolish of me to support you? Why exactly are you so bitter? Let me repeat myself for the zillionth time, I think it is better to have Trustees serve shorter numbers of years to allow more club members to enjoy the privilege of serving the club. Period.

Then let those people, including you CJ, stand for election and
see what happens! We don't need a revolution!

I voted electronically today and it took maybe 10 seconds and zero effort. Of course I chose 3 of the new faces, no incumbents, which is the only way to vote if you support term limits or consecutive term limits. Here is your chance to be heard.

If you haven't voted yet you can still mail in your paper ballot from the magazine but there is not much time left to beat the deadline.
