Non german DIN 895 tools

#1 Post by Daryl Bruhl »

Hi. I own a set of 'GEDORE no. 14 drop forged India' and a set of early -V- craftsman metric wrenches 6-22mm both from the 60's. I read GEDOR in a German tool co and had tools forged in India early on. Say I don't have the DIN 895 wrench that I need which should I grab? Want to send less sinful set to my son. Thank in advance.
Enjoy

Daryl, a late reply, but I'd go with the GEDORE, at least they're a German company.

My father has a beautifully made crescent wrench from India purchased in the mid sixties with the name Gedore on it.

Not all Indian manufacturing was done on charcoal braziers at the side of the road. (Royal Enfield Bullet continued in India as the Enfield India.)

Googled Gedore and company was started by three brothers in 1919 making quality hand tools. Made it through the wars and in the 60's expanded the forging to other countries. Still making quality tools world wide today. Hayco and Gedore were part of Porsche tool kits 1963, so I read. Picture show some new and older German Gedore tools.
I think the Craftsman's will be taking a vacation.
