Don't know if anyone else has been following this, but UP is restoring 3 late steam locos, and they are doing it right. These vids record a talk by the director of the resto, and he mentions the temptation to 'improve' things and the duty to restore them,
And well into #2, he owns up: "I admit..." - he Ni-plated the wonderful brass throttle lever.
