Jon, that is beautiful attention to detail! I bet it even shifts nicely!
Martin, right now I am just thinking. I have recently bought two rough Devin Ds and one does need a frame replacement. Just thinking.

Jon and Jacques, what front castor did the RS60 and RS61 have? The top torsion tube looks very far back from the bottom tube which would indicate a large amount of caster.

Re: RS60 or RS61 Frame Design Detail Pictures Needed
Hi Roy,
I think it would be found in the service manual or little spec book if such a thing exists. If the front trailing arms top and bottom are basically the same distance from torsion bar center to link pin center then the castor is determined by the distance of the additional offset of the rearward position of the top torsion tube relative to the bottom torsion tube. Castor was significantly increased on the 356 when the A was introduced along with softer spring rates and other changes to improve handling.
Looking at pictures it looks like the late Spyders had a lot of castor so I am guessing more than 7*.
Roy, if you happen to see the spec somewhere in your stuff it would be great but scanning is too much to ask and won't help unless you run across the entire list of chassis dimensions and settings. That would be too much to dream for.
You are a good guy for offering the help.
Best,
Cliff

Cliff, the museum has a tremendous amount of information and many factory documents relating to their cars.C J Murray wrote:I am in Naples FL and have tickets to visit the Revs/Collier museum Thursday so I hope to get a little insight there.
You might ask them on Thursday.

Re: RS60 or RS61 Frame Design Detail Pictures Needed
Cliff somewhere in my rat's nest, I have the RS60 owner's manual. It has much of the info you are looking for. I also have the spec sheet for the 550 and 550A somewhere. I'll dig them up and scan them for you.
The philosophy at Porsche KG at the time was to issue a parts book and an owner's manual for race cars in the era. I have never seen a Shop Manual for those cars. I am pretty sure they do not exist. They figured the only people that worked on these cars were master mechanics and didn't need a manual. I know of guys who kept lots of private notes on these cars for setup and rebuilds.
