Bob, What a great piece of history and a great story. Thanks so much for sharing. I never heard this about Platte Nebraska. Platte will always have a special place in are hearts.

Amazing story and I think very indicative of the support and generosity of the American people.
I'm glad to hear of groups like the Military Ministry and the U.S.O. continuing that support. Our military needs and deserves that.

My Dad was a cowboy near Curtiss, not far from North Platte in 1917 when he joined up with Colorado cavalry unit and was a remount rider before being sent to France where he fought near Chateau Thierry on the Marne. His older sister and her husband homesteaded near Curtiss in 1898 or so and he lived with them on the prarie. I visited them with my Dad in 1965 in Curtiss--out in the sand hills.

I enjoyed the canteen video a lot.

I am retired A.F. and I remember North Platte it was one place that didn't put you down because you were a G I. That video made me remember. Thanks
