Re: A little trivia
Industrial engine with magneto, governer (built into special generator stand) driven by toothed belt from additional pulley on crank. Hand crank engages special crank pulley nut. Mufflers were special, and had special bracket mounting for bearing to support middle of hand crank shaft. Rear tin had flip up door to allow crank to pass through to pulley nut.
I think the jagdwagen was perhaps the most recent Porsche vehicle to use this hand crank.

Re: A little trivia
I have a pulley bolt cast with "Ears" for a crank. Maybe an industrial engine?

Re: A little trivia
Jim Liberty,
That crank bolt with the cast ears is most likely for an early VW engine. They were all like that, for crank starting. I still have the original crank start handle and rear apron with a hole in it, for my '56 bus. Unfortunately, hand cranking the 2332cc engine that's in there now would be a bit tough.
Cheers,
-Greg
