Today is Drive Your Woodie Day - and thanks to our club

#1 Post by Rosemary Sampson »

Just a word of thanks to our club for inspiring a shamelessly copied idea. In 2007 Bill presented the idea of a Drive Your Woodie Day to the National Woodie Club board. His presentation included some photos culled from the Registry magazine and sent to him by Gordon Maltby (thanks again). Today is the 8th iteration. It has been phenomenally successful with photos and stories now taking a good part of two issues of our monthly magazine.

Even if you're not in California where there are quite a few of them people all over the country - even the world - will be out having some fun in these cars. Go out and check your local car guy sites. Covered bridges and old airplanes seem to be particular favorites in addition to beaches everywhere.

The family and friends of "The Girl in the Curl" - a renowned surfer who passed on, have asked us to bring ours to her paddle out here at Latigo and we'll proudly but with heavy hearts take it there today to share in the celebration of her well-lived life.

Mike:

Here's a pic of Shelley's daughter, Colleen (riding bare back) paddling in to leave Shelley's ashes at the point break where she grew up and learned to surf.

My grandson stored his "woody" up here over the winter. I just got it out of storage this week and it was sitting in the drive, so had to take a short run for the cause.
