That year never used to sound so old to me. I was 5 when my parents gave me a JNF tinplate 356 and have been hooked on these cars ever since.

Hi to All
Hi All, this is my first post so I thought I shoud say hello before anything else so Hi!
I own a 59 A coupe, unrestored and rust free. But well used. It is an original Aussie delivered car in Factory RHD and I am the third owner. All numbers match and the only work that the car has had is excellent maintenance all it's life and a mechanical overhaul by me at 520,000 miles. Total mileage is now 531,000.
It is in it's original factory applied white paint #603 which is as per kardex and has a special order interior colour of light blue which the first owner has confirmed as being her special request. She bought the car brand new as a 21st birthday present to herself and paid cash for it. Unbelievable! Other optional items listed on the Kardex include the horn ring, bosch headlights, electric antenna and AM/FM becker Europa Radio.
I bought the car as my first car two weeks before my 20th birthday a bit over 12 years ago and it was a dream come true as I had wanted a 59 since the age of 10 which was no mean feat to accomplish in Australia as so few cars came here compared to other countries.
Anyhow, to answer the original post content I drive a 59 A coupe and was born November 1975 so definately post production.
Cheers all
Michael.

I agree.Roy Smalley wrote:It will be interesting to compare the ages in a year.....I bet the young croud is coming on strong.
I am very surprised at the poll results so far. I would have bet 60% would have been born pre production.

Born in 1978 here....been eyeing the 356's now for at least 10 years if not more....just seems every year my financial status goes up a little, the average price of the cars goes up as well. Always just out of reach. Still...I intend to have a car in the next couple of years for sure. Until then, I will live vicareously through all of you lucky old timers with garages full of dream cars

Born Pre 356
Born pre 356 - 1937 to be exact. Not quite pre-Beetle but at a time when "everyone knew" that a car had to have a water cooled engine in front driving the rear wheels.

One year younger than mine.
My toy ('57 Coupe) has been living in this earth a year longer than me.
Her first 34 years, she was in California, lived there with me a couple of years and now she is in Japan for 17 years. I believe she likes Japan.
