I've been thinking the same thing; absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful combo with the interior.gspreeman wrote:Have to say, I've never been a fan of togo brown but your car looks really sharp.

Thanks. I didn't dislike the color when I decided to buy the car, but mainly bought it because I thought it was an excellent, semi-original example. It's turned out to be just that. Dick Weiss rebuilt the engine which runs flawlessly. The color has grown on me and is an excellent combo with the original fawn interior.gspreeman wrote:Have to say, I've never been a fan of togo brown but your car looks really sharp.
I've been sorting out the car for a while now cosmetically and mechanically. No big issues, just the kind of stuff that in total adds up to a nicer package. Last night, I dismantled the tail pipes, wire brushed them and all the hardware to the bare metal and will repaint the muffler, pipes and hardware their original dark grey. My pipes were a pitted, messy silver.
Here are the heater slides and seat mounts and tracks that I refinished, they were fairly cruddy.

Ed, thanks for the welcome. I've actually been here for awhile as member #6. I've enjoyed reading your background and seeing your artwork. Perhaps our tubs will meet someday!ed hyman wrote:Hi John & Chad

Finished painting the muffler/exhaust system today. Looks nice. Come to find out that my 500 degree paint may not be sufficient. Oh well, it'll be a project for next winter if it ends up looking like crap over time. I'll post pictures when it's assembled tomorrow.

Completed the refinishing of the exhaust system to what I believe is close to original. Left the muffler in and just masked off. Removed the rusty silver pipes and wire brushed them and the rusty hanger hardware. Repainted with high temp paint. Reassembled using some high temp anti-seize on the connections which were difficult to separate on removal. Replaced rusted bolt hardware with stainless. Adjusted so the pipes are in the center of the bumper openings instead of laying on the bottom. The dent in the right pipe was previously there. I know you can buy all new pipes and hardware from Stoddard for about $125, but for now, I wanted to stick with what looked like some of my original stuff.John_Lewenauer wrote: Last night, I dismantled the tail pipes, wire brushed them and all the hardware to the bare metal and will repaint the muffler, pipes and hardware their original dark grey. My uncle had an A (or Pre-A) coupe when I was a kid. I almost bought the 61 cab below in 66, but ended up waiting until 2006 (40 years!) to get my first 356 (but driving newer Porsches for the past 15 years).

'50--just squeaked into "middle age!"
Here's a picture of Hubby's 356. His name on the title, so I really have to say "his." We didn't meet until a little over a year later, but it really was BECAUSE of our Porsche that we met at all...
