Quaint, perhaps today, but at the time, one of the ugliest bikes. - fascinating cam-drive. - I'd take a Manx though.

The wiz kids should love the addition of more connecting rods that they can fuss over! :P

Super neat stuff ................... crank will self destruct before you can take advantage of it.

About the NSU animation it says:

"The lower eccentric drive wheel runs at half speed counterclockwise. The speed of the lower eccentric drive wheel is indicated by a black dot. "

By my lights the lower eccentric drive wheel rotation matches the cranks' rotation. So "half" of what speed?

Brian,
The two dark-colored gears run the lower eccentric shaft at half crank speed

Ah, the counterweighted upper shaft in the animation is not the crankshaft. (The counterweights threw me.) Thanks.

I dunno, with 186 hp and 390 lbs (with a full tank, 366 dry), I'd be inclined to cut them some slack. It's twice as long as a 356 oil change with filter and then some! Then again, if I was going to spend big dough on a Ducati, it'd be the Desmosedici….

Good article here, Kevin Cameron has been around the block a couple of times…

(and, I still have my '95 916 that I bought new! 20 years of great rides and numb wrists….)

Damn! You found my secret; oh, did you mean the valve train, or the number of cylinders?

The new explains the Typ 619 engine -- which were experimental versions of the 547 engines. Among the 619 types are both desodromic valve and slide vale direct injection variants.

Among its other charms are listings of upholstery types by Reutter number -- although I admit to be confused/doubtful about cloth (perhaps they mead corduroy, but there are corduroy numbers).
