Entered our cars in an on-line car show

#1 Post by Barry Wolk »

Entered both of our cars in the Texaco on-line car show. They have a screwy voting system where it's total votes that count, not an average, so it's turned into a popularity contest, not a true car show.

Please vote for both our Continentals.

Hi Barry,

Until this post, I never made the connection. I met you at the Milwaukee Masterpiece. We were talking and I mentioned that my 190 SL in the show was almost the same color as your Mark II. What a stunning car, absolutely gorgeous. One of my favorites at the show. Very nice meeting you.

No, Blue 1961 190 SL in class of 1st in class winners of last year along the lake side. I won this year. I also have a Togo Brown 356, but we didn't discuss it and I didn't have it in the show.

What a great place for a car show. Downtown Milwaukee and it's waterfront is a big part of the show.

Understand it was a tad wet last year.

That's an understatement.

We couldn't park on the grounds, cars were lined up on the cement walk and the grass along it. I was on the grass side and sunk into the mud when I backed the car in. Such a mess, had to take your shoes off after you got in the car to drive home.

This year's weather though, more than made up for it. It was a glorious day, wasn't it? You're right, the city skyline, lake and Calatrava art center make for a fabulous venue.

What did you win in the show. I haven't seen all the results. What a unique and beautiful car. Did you have the pictures on the voting website taken professionally at that place in Rochester, MI?

No, those pictures were taken at Latcha + Associates in Farmington Hills, MI. The photographer is Keven Pearce.

We took a white ribbon. It's getting hard to compete with trailer queens since we've put 11,000 miles on the Mark II in 5 years. The Caddy convertible that took "American Convertibles" was fresh out of restoration and trailer.

We've been invited back for next year with the '55 Cab. It may not be perfect by then as this Saturday we're taking it to the Glenmoor Gathering of Significant Automobiles where Brett took BOC with his nearly identical car last year. We'll drive it to Milwaukee next year, too.

If you're in the area, drop by.

I'll look forward to seeing you next year. I know what you mean about driving and the cars losing their edge. You should have won a first of something just for the uniqueness. But, we make up for it in the enjoyment factor. Looks like if I enter my C coupe I won't be holding a candle to your cabrio.

My buddy had professional pics taken of his 190 SL in Rochester. That's why I thought maybe you'd done the same.

That looks like it could be Michael Furman's work. If my 190SL were that pretty I would have kept it.
