Which Porsche to Rent in Germany??....no 356 content

#1 Post by Dan Mazur »

I will be traveling to Stuttgart on business just after the east coast holiday in Sept.
The local office manager there has a voucher for Porsche car rentals and has offered to supply a new Porsche for my stay. How nice.
But I have never driven a modern Porsche. So Im looking for advise from the group on which of the following models to choose....sorry no 356 in the list!

Carrera
Cayman
Boxter
Cayenne

Hope this doesnt spoil my love of the old tubs.

Dan,
I just got back from our annual trip to Belgium. We also visited France, Germany, Netherlands and Denmark.
Saw a ton of 911's and Boxsters, bunch of Cayennes but very few Caymans.
So, here's my opinion:
1. Forget the Cayenne
2. Want to put the top down? Forget the Cayman (no sunroof either but a super car anyway).
3. If you've got a free pass...go for the big bucks and get a Carrera Cabriolet.

4. Most important: Go do a few laps at the Nurburgring...you won't be dissappointed, plus the surrounding area is beautiful with GREAT Porsche roads.

911 Carrera 4, or the 4RS. If it's available the GT3RS would be the "bomb-diggy".

Dan, I could solve that problem for you - just give me the voucher and I'll drive the new one. :D

Dan,

Carrera S Targa. Great if the weather's not so good (rain is pretty much
the norm in Germany) and great if the weather's nice and you're not going
too fast to enjoy top open motoring.

Be aware that some rental car insurances exclude coverage for the Nürburgring.
Other than that, the Nordschleife is a definitive must!

Carrera! Carrera! Carrera!
Will it spoil your love for the 356? Hard to lose that love but when you are ripping down the autobahn at 200+KPH you will certainly give thanks for modern Porsches and their enginering. Sure I am jealous....have fun. Eric
