Re: Jack Staggs' shop
Discussing bent hoods, hood gaps and hinges. Jack pointed out to me the difference between early and late hinges. You can notice the difference in angle between the early and late hinge. Now imagine that you have one of each on your car and can't quite get the hood to close exactly like you'd like... as Jack found on a car at his shop recently.

Trevor, thanks so much for this post. I've copied the pictures, as I was never sure exactly how they differed.

You're welcome Jim. I edited my post for further clarification. In the second picture the early hinge is in the top of the picture, not on top of the other hinge.

Jack supplied Bill and me with a great sign when we stopped, with our Woodie, at his shop. On DY356 day we were at a woodie "board" meeting nearby but we encountered Jack and his very real 356 spirit anyway. Thanks for the sign Jack.

Hi Rosemary! It was nice meeting you. We never formally introduced ourselves, but I was the "kid" (38 years old) that you were talking with and showing your Woodie to. BTW, what a great car. Glad you guys stopped by and I hope you found In N Out ok down in Carlsbad afterwards. Thanks for posting the pics, classic Jack.

Trevor:
Thanks for the kind words. I always love talking to young people at these old car events.
Bill would have loved to meet you. He was over in the National Woodie Club booth fulfilling director duties. Both of us love chatting about that car and its history. It's fun to cruise too. Jack's sign looked good next to the woodie don't you think? It's now proudly displayed in our garage

Kevin Van Fleet did some great artwork for Jack's 356th day of the year party. Anyone even remotely interested in 356 please stop by.
PS - Don't forget to bring parts to swap, anything you can fit inside your 356 and display in front of it.

You 356 owners who are within a reasonable driving distance of Jack's shop are lucky indeed. He's a great guy and a premier 356 wrench.
This sure seems "on topic" to me...

I wonder why the car doesn't seem to have full throttle? Let's check the carb linkage, yep good, let's check the loud pedal, yep that's good. How about the bell crank? Well I guess we have a few options here...
