Re: Jack Staggs' shop
The daughter and grandson picked up the 55 Speedster last week. The grandfather bought the Speedster in 56 (one year old) and the car has been in the family ever since. The daughter was smiling from ear to ear having driven the car around the block for the first time in decades, grandson (early 40's) was equally as happy and drove the car home via PCH - I don't know about you guys, but I think that's got to be about as good as it gets.
I have to admit, I had become a little jaded seeing all the 356's at the shop, but hearing the stories of the daughter driving around in this car when she was younger and the high speed jaunts the grandfather did to Vegas and back really made the uniqueness of this car come to life, just as Jack and Kerry brought the actual car back to life. No longer relegated to garage art status, it's been elevated to a 356 in driver condition. We all hope for many miles and smiles!
Enjoy the pics, another one back on the road!

My pleasure Mark. I forgot to post the pics of the tires that came off the Speedster. Check these old things out. There's a small chance the Speedster will make an appearance at Dana Point this weekend.

Reshaping the profile of the bumper to the body. Nice fit now without any tension on the bumper or rear fender.

Special delivery. It may have come in on the truck but it's not leaving that way.

Transmission. It's a graphite metallic car (with sunroof), but the lighting is bad so it looks darker.

Cracked differential carrier,...and welded up hockey stick.
Was the hockey stick welded just for good measure, or was it cracked too?

Hey Steve! The hockey stick was NOT cracked. It was welded to eliminate the step and potential stress riser.

Re: Jack Staggs' shop
Here's another one brought out of hibernation recently and made roadworthy by Jack and Kerry. I have to tell you the stories these guys have about their cars and why they sat for a number of years and how happy they are now that they are back on the road is pretty fun. But one word of caution, if anyone ever starts out with, "you want to hear a quick story", it's NEVER going to be quick!
