"Schocked"

#1 Post by Wil Mittelbach »

Being rather a novice re. the latest 356 e-mail speak, I wonder what is meant by the term "[shocked]" used by several 356 Listers as a closure to their postings. Perhaps it indicates that :-
1) They're "shocked" at the posting to which they're respnding, or
2) "shocked" at thier own posting, or
3) their 356's are "shocked" with a full set of shock absorbers!!
Is the term perhaps inappropiately used, and as such, is it meaningful in 356 Talk exchanges??
Would welcome any comments.
Puzzled,
-Wil

Brian -
Thanks for your tutoral posting of icon explanations. Unfortunately, it does not clarify the relevance to the "[shocked]" text in 356 Talk postings. Perhaps you're indicating the text replaces a non-pertinent icon which can't be posted on 356 Talk e-mail ??

Wil, I am sorry that I can not help you with your question but perhaps you can clarify your use of the word "Puzzled" as I am having a few issues with it :?:

Either ecomo or text, 'I'm shocked' usually is said tongue in cheek, as in 'I'm shocked, NOT'. Just hope the users of this site don't start using text speak, although as younger users become more predominant, I'll probably be

I used it for the "wide eyes" I never noticed till now it meant shocked.

There's probably 50 different little fellows, some in bright colors, that we could be using for fun.

Fun is something "they" don't want us to have.

Thanks for all your reponses.
As such, Have come to the obvious conclusion that 356 Talk e-mail postings with "shocked" or "wink", in brackets, are text versions of possibly misused icons - - unknowing to the poster and puzzling and/or extraneous to some readers.
Cheers,
-Wil

Here's what you guys need to do if you want more variety in your faces--go on this website:

http://bestsmileys.com/pageindex.htm

It has all the smilies you can dream of. Right click on the one you want, store it in Photobucket, or a similar site, and then transfer the "IMG code" directly to your posting.

Here are some examples of what you can do:

There are hundreds to choose from. More fun isn't it?

Oooh, thanks! I'm a member of an insect forum, and will find that one useful! Where did you find it?

I'll trade you for a picture of me in the morning:

I really don't care for emoticons at all. It's so difficult to project sarcasm correctly that it's best spelled out, not represented by a symbol.

Although, there are three smilies that this site could use. One for "embarrassed"Image, one for "I dunno"Image and the third speaks for itself.

They are so expressive and say it all.
