Deborah King or anyone... can you point me to the most informative MINI web forum?
Looks like we are ramping up to a slightly used one and need to know all of the issues. Mike

You betcha--NAM is where most of us hang out:

What year is the one you're considering? I can give you an owner's overview if it's an R56 ('07 or later).

.... and I can give you an overview of the '06 or older as long as it's an R53 ( I didn't/don't pay too much attention to the non S's...)

I suppose, but if you've got the bucks and want to feel like a kid again, get an '07 S. Love that turbo! The entire car was redesigned, and it's a blast! You can justify it with its much better gas mileage... Image

(An '08 is the same except for the auto-up windows and a USB port.)

How 'ya doing, Trinkles?

I agree with Deb, Spring for an S..... you'll be happy you did. A little pep never hurt no one......

I do not care for the Clubman at all, but that's my opinion and to each his own.

I LOVE my '06. only thing I HATED was the run flat tires. What a TERRIBLE RIDE!!! They were the first to go. We are now running Yokohama's. So far we have painted the top red, added new black wheels, installed new black front grill, also new fog lights, painted the wing, new red bezels around the gages, red ring aroudn the headlights, blackout kit on the exterior to get rid of the chrome look.... what else?? Hmmm. Cosmetic Mods are addicting and fun.

I MIGHT be getting a new one next year... That gives me a year to decide on the color that I want. :)

The Trinkle's are fine... cooking in the desert but fine :) Once in a While I really do miss R Can Saw. Robert on the other hand doesn't.

My brother has a Mini Cooper S and loved it. Last year he traded and got a VW R-32 and while he likes it, he wished he had the Mini back--he said it cornered better, had better fit and finish, and got better gas mileage than the VW. The VW-32 is a bit quicker, but he was disappointed in the quality aspects and handling.

Michael,
You have probably already seen/read it, but the July R&T Magazine has a pretty good article on looking for used Mini's.

Pat, the same thing happened to a friend of mine. He was a staunch MINI supporter--one of the best known members of our local club. Also was a regular, competitive autocrosser. He went away to college, and I guess his parents were worried about car problems, so they bought him (or he bought himself) a VW R-32. He came home from school for the first autocross of the season, and it was pretty evident that he was expecting a lot more than the VW could give him.

Bet he's back with a MINI somewhere along the line...especially now that they're building a dealership in his town.

Ron, I stopped by the MINI dealer yesterday for some free windshield wiper blades (goes with the warranty), and started talking with the guys in the sales department. Not surprisingly, they report sales are brisk, with everything sold except the demos. All of the incoming trucks are presold, too. They report the auction value on used MINIs has gone up about $1200 in the past month (or did they say week?)...

There is no Mini Dealer here in the desert which is a bummer, but that doesn't keep people from buying them. We see more and more of them around here every day. Matter of fact, the Ford Dealership that is only a few miles from us has been buying Mini's at auction or something because it seems like every week he has another used one parked out front for sale and in a day or two it's sold and gone. A few days later there is another one parked out front in it's place........

We also have a friend that had a Mini S and sold it for a car with a bigger back seat. All he talks about is the Mini, the Mini, the Mini. I wish he'd get another one just so he will stop whining about the Mini he sold..... I bet he's back in a Mini soon too....

They are a fun little car. They make folks smile. They make ME smile, not a 356 smile, but a smile non the less.

Gee, JoAnne, the 356 makes me smile, but the MINI makes me laugh out loud!

BTW, if anyone's wondering why I put MINI in caps, it's because BMW named it to differentiate it from the older Mini...

LOL!!!! Usually when I post something about my MINI is call it a MIIIIIIINI (see our sig below), as in WEEEEEE!!!!! It's fun car. Robert complains that he doesn't get to drive it. Tough. He's the one that needed to have a truck, not me....

How's the Puke-it (I know, I know, but I don't have spell check...) engine doing? MPG?
