67 VW Van

#1 Post by ed ricci »

Have a chance to purchase a 8 window van all original but setting out in the SoCal weather for the last 12 years. It runs and has about 10k on new motor. Any guesses as to what its worth?

Thanks

It's probably harder to come up with a value on a car needing a lot of work than one in great shape.

Some data points: RM sold a very nice '66 21 Window microbus for $35,750 at Monterey in 2007. In 2008, Gooding sold a very similar [could even have been the same] bus for $60,500 in Scottsdale. About all this proves is that there's a big range in prices.

There are lots of buses advertised at the Samba http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/ ... ESC&page=0 I would guess you might be looking at somewhere between $2,000 for a project starting point and $7,000 for a bus that mainly needs lots of "freshening."

I should warn you that while I own a bus, I don't buy and sell them.

I'd post the question on the Samba with some pictures. The guys there can give you a more educated guess.

BTW... it's a Bus, not a van ;)

No disrespect meant.

It's just some of them are involved in a dozen transactions a year.

Let's see some photos Ed, it's probably not worth much, do you want me to come over and haul it away?
