Coaching in the State Championship Football Game!

#1 Post by Sebastian Gaeta »

Just had to post this here for my friends who know I coach football. We FINALLY beat a school that is loaded with division 1 talent. I don't mean division 1 like Bowling green or Cincinnati, these kids are all lined up to go to Ohio State, Michigan and Alabama. The first three times we played them were all close losses. Once in overtime, once on the last play of the game and once by a touchdown. This last Saturday we played them again in the semi finals and won, we are now on to the state championship game in the top division in Michigan!

Here is a great article recapping how we did it: https://www.livingstondaily.com/story/s ... 290455002/

Way to go Coach!
Note: For those of you who might not know Sebastian, these kids are learning more than football. Sebastian is also focused on helping them learn life's lessons they can use the rest of their life.

Sorry Sebastian. Thought Mike was the poster/coach. Looks like a tremendous program. Would still be great to see a couple of your guys playing for USC!

Paul, you are too kind!

The best part of coaching is not winning, although that is a lot of fun. The best part is watching these kids turn into fine young men that are not afraid of hard work knowing they can fight through whatever adversity comes their way. It sounds corny but it really is magical.

Thanks Phil, yeah, that 20 miles sometimes takes an hour but it's well worth it!

Result of the game yesterday was not what we had hoped for. We lost to a terrific Davison team, very good athletes and very well coached; more importantly they were a good bunch of kids and coaches. Hats off to them. We played catch up all game and never really got it going.

We are obviously very proud of our kids, they fought hard and actually were in position at the end of the game to convert a 2 pt conversion and recover an onside kick to tie it up, but it wasn't in the cards for us.

Sorry your team didn't win but just getting to the State level is a great accomplishment you and the team can be proud of!
