.....what I'm really sort of getting to, is the fact that when I go to events.....I see a LOT of 'old guys' running around (myself included) and I remember back when it was a bunch of goofy hippies and junior grease monkeys owning and driving these cars. Now, they are either long term owned or the recent acquisition of the more financially 'secure' (read, Old Guys). Let's all face it...our beloved cars will outlive US.....and it would be a good thing to get more 'young' folks infected with the love of these wonderful old cars. I hate to think all our cars will end up being nothing more then 'investments' of the wealthy.....traded at high end Auctions, and never seeing the road, curving off into the distance.......

We have been organising Flat 4 drives in the UK for the last 2 years. 356/912s a plenty. We we are keen to try and get some 914s along. More the merrier IMHO.

I learned to drive in a 67 912 targa owned by an aunt and uncle. It was passed on to me about 20 years ago and became my entry into the world of old Porsches. For some years I took it the mid Atlantic annual summer picnic and was always welcomed by the 356 crowd. As the only non 356 out of 40 -50 Porsches, it got a lot of positive attention. Hanging out with and learning from our local club led me directly to my 1st coupe then a D. All good.
