Here is a shot of a Dannenhauer and Stauss Cabrio (VW based) coachbuilt. Pretty car. (shot swiped from theSamba.com) Looks kinda familiar!

not a cousin... maybe an uncle???

#5 Post by Eric Meyer »

Sorry... Not German... and not a coachbuilt... this one isn't even a cousin exacty...more of a father you never knew about...

Porsche always said he did "look over the shoulder" of Hans Ledwinka... Tatra designer.

See anything that looks kinda familiar?

the wrecked Dannenhauer and Stauss belongs to the Autostadt musuem in Germany and will be restored. This is another shot of the other car that is here in the USA. It won sports class at the Carmel Concours on the Ave last year... against a bevy of 300SL coupes.

Brian... I know you are a fireman and all... but just as an fyi... my wife Cynthia and I were involved in an accident about 20 years ago... where a 4x4 truck plowed broadside into our karmann ghia coupe at 60 mph... the impact drove the drivers door all the way through the car and out the pass side. Niether of us were wearing seat belts. She was driving. Had we been belted in... she would be dead. I know the odds are against this type of wreck.... but I am happy she is still alive.
