I would agree with that. Here's a late afternoon sun Elfenbein Weiss (Ivory) shot on film (no auto white balance to assume it is white and render it accordingly):



102975. The paint was mixed using Acran paint codes to match the factory color in the 1980s - supposedly. Still one of my favorite colors. Though Slate Gray is kinda nice too. Neko.

Heron Grey on a 356B (121123). This is an intriguing color and looks different in the shade and evenings. Women love this color!

Hi, Pat - Really???? Heron Grey???? Wow! It looks like 5704 Ivory or Sahara Beige. Just goes to show that digital pictures can't be trusted in most cases. I checked my photo album of 356 colors for another Heron Grey and I don't have one. To show you how bad I am, I had this picture, which I have seen before, mis-identified as Ivory like my T-5 Roadster. Just goes to show.

Carl -- your car looks like the same or very similar color as mine. Mine definitely is not ivory or cream or white. Here are three more photos including one in the late afternoon sun.

And a perfect example of what we mean when we state that digital images are not to be trusted, and, besides, the color changes (dramatically!) with the lighting. Your first picture looks like what I envision Heron Grey to be, while the second looks more like A 5704 Ivory. The third is take your pick... Still, a lovely color for a 35, and I understand why the ladies love it! 8)

Would like to see a Meissen Blue, with red interior if possible.

Keep in mind just about any color was an original paint color on a 356. The factory would paint it any color you wanted for a price. $$. There's a number of pictures of them just coming out of the factory in the stageing yard, pink, purple many shades of green and red, even two tones. So think beyond the standard dealer offered colors.
Which also falls into the famous quote ( "That's not original") or the one I really love ( "Hay BUD that's not correct") which is used as well on toolkits.

ps; I'm now hopeing someone will post those old pictures of the factory photos, can't find mine....I know someone has them

I remember reading an article in an old Australian Sports Car Quarterly magazine (80s), discussing early Porsches being imported into Australia. It was talking about the first (?) 356 that was imported and how the lady owner specifically wanted the colour to match her bridesmaids' dresses, as it was an integral part of her upcoming nuptials.

To ensure it matched exactly, she sent a swatch of the very same material for the factory to match, and lo and behold they did.

Hamiltons (Porsche's representative in AU) received said car and she was delighted with the result. A great pity the pictures were only in B&W from the day, but it did make for an interesting read.

You are referring to Mrs Anthony Horden's coupe,
(Anthony Horden"s was a large department store in Sydney)
Certainly not the first car in Oz as they were here from 1951,
but an early car nonetheless, as there weren't too many pre A's here
in 1954.

The colour of this car was indeed matched to a sample of wedding dress
material and delivered as such. The car was in the John Newell collection
in original condition, until the dealership closed and the cars were auctioned
off, I think in the nineties. I believe the car went to the USA.
