No, its Pastel Green, a VW color available on early 50's VW's.
Kevin, I am simply relaying what I was told by Eric when he first presented the car at North Meets South a few years back. Perhaps I misunderstood him.

This color is VW Pastel Green... from 1952. Similar to Palm Green... but nobody on the planet has the correct mixing codes for Palm Green. We worked from old color photos of early cars... and this color is as close as we could get to Palm Green. Having said that... I have seen 3 or four versions of palm green since this car was painted... and all of them look TOTALLY different from one another... So who knows. But this one looks nice!

Ed,
The color is Palm Green or at least a variation of it. Eric Mayer is the owner of the car and I believe he modified the color somewhat.
Here's mine in Fazination Grun, I had it mixed to match the green used for the titles on Kubiak's 'Fazination Porsche 356'. Any photographer will tell you that green is one of the most difficult colors to record accurately as it is much more prone to color shifts under varying conditions.

Joel

[quote="Mark Pribanic"]Jade Green Metallic #536

Image

Below our jade green metallic '55 at Hedingham Castle last month.
Also I love the colour of the A in front, is it 'Orange' ?

Ours looks very different in different lights, it seems to have a lot of gold metal in the paint up close and looks far more green than the Carrera which I have assumed to be a very accurate benchmark car for comparison. I had not seen another jade car until this RHD car was posted on DDK by PR Services in uk. Or is it Lago green?
Ours was painted/as is when we bought it but painted many years ago.

Hi Anna,
Yes, that "orange" car is actually the special order "Orange" available on late A's and early B's.
My A was originally "Orange" but had several colors over it when I bought it in 1973.
When I restored the car I had it painted black.
Do you know the owner of that orange car? I wonder what the chassis number is. I'll bet it's very close to mine (105327). My car originally had a beige interior with tan floor mats.
There are very few orange cars left. I have only seen a handful in 35 years.
Thanks for the photos.

Orange

#45 Post by Don Rutherford »

Here's my Orange C coupe. #5711 Orange was one of 4 special order colors in '58/'59 (I assumed T-2 A's) There were 3 C cars painted that color per the Reutter handwritten record book. One is apparently in the collection of a well known comedian and I don't know the location of the other but have all 3 serial #'s if interested. PS In answer to questions - the wheels are original McAfee's
